Ingredients
Serves 4
- Enough French or green beans for 4 people
- A large knob of butter (optional)
- A large handful flaked almonds
Method
- Heat a frying pan (dry) and then add the flaked almonds. Heat them for a few minutes, turning often, until lightly browned but not burned. Remove the almonds from the pan, to stop them cooking.
- Trim the ends of the beans.
- If cooking the beans whole, boil them for about 5 minutes. If you want them in smaller pieces, chop in half and cook for about 3 minutes, until tender.
Note: cooking time depends on the thickness of the bean, so it's worth testing.
- Drain the beans. Meanwhile melt the butter (if using) in the hot pan and return the beans to the pan. Add the almonds and mix well.
